Sierra Leon Just ran the first blockchain-based Election
The citizens of Sierra Leone went to the polls on March 7 but this time something was different: the country recorded votes at 70% of the polling to the blockchain using a technology that is the first of its kind in actual practice.
The tech, created by Leonardo Gammar of Agora, anonymously stored votes in an immutable ledger, thereby offering instant access to the election results.
“Anonymized votes/ballots are being recorded on Agora’s blockchain, which will be publicly available for any interested party to review, count and validate,” said Gammar. “This is the first time a government election is using blockchain technology.”

WHAT WOULD THE WORLD BE LIKE IF THIS VOTING SYSTEM HAD BEEN IN PLACE IN FLORIDA IN THE YEAR 2000?
One answer: the U.S. would very likely not have invaded Iraq - the most catastrophically wrong-headed move in American history. The Iraqi Army would not have been disbanded to morph into a years-long deadly insurrection. The Saudi-proxy CIA-funded terrorist organization known by Western media as ISIS would not have murdered thousands of innocent Muslims (most of them Shiite) nor have been available to be conveniently blamed for suspicious attacks such as Charlie Hebdo, etc. The terrorist attacks of 9-11 might not have happened in the first place. The U.S. would not have trashed its moral leadership and betrayed its principles by embracing torture and black site foreign rendition prisons.
Amidst all of this manufactured ballyhoo about Russian interference in the 2016 elections (which conveniently ignores the several dozen well-documented CIA-backed overthrows of democratically elected governments in the last 60 years, and the vast funds the U.S. throws annually at interfering in other nations' elections), we have somehow neatly forgotten about the shameful example of the Florida election debacle of 2000 which handed the White House to the man who (up until January 20, 2017) was by the common consensus of historians the worst president in American history.
Picture this headline: "Disputed Russian Election hands the Kremlin to the inexperienced son of former KGB Chief as Russian Supreme Court votes along strict party lines to stop counting the ballots in key disputed state."
Oh, those evil and corrupt authoritarian Russians!
Oops - that's George W. Bush.
Not that the Democratic Party is less corrupt, nor less beholden to the dark factions behind the central banking system, etc. It's just that the GOP had their plans all lined up. The vastly complex fascist legislation known as the Patriot Act had been written well in advance of 9-11, and was just waiting for a "convenient" event.
If we want to begin to restore democracy to America - and begin to reclaim our now trashed reputation as the champion of rule "by the people for the people," we could do worse than fund block-chain based voting systems in every county in the United States.
